The government is concerned that celebrations to mark the festive season will affecrt plans to re-open the economy in January.

President Museveni while addressing the nation in October gave hope to the Ugandans, after promising to fully reopen the economy without relying on the vaccination status of the population.

Several sectors remain shut due to measures to conatin the spread of Covid-19

With only a few weeks left for the president to fulfill his pledge to the nation, the ministries of Health and Education led by the office of the president, have come out with fears that the festive season may lead to spread of the virus hence affecting the plan of full reopening.

The state Minister of primary healthcare, Margaret Muhanga says despite the government’s promise of full reopening, it does not mean the virus is no longer in existence, she urges people to take up the available vaccines.
