Uganda’s inflation has increased to 6.3 percent in the ending month of May 2022 from 4.9% registered in April 2022.
Releasing the monthly consumer price index report at statistics house, the director economic statistics at Uganda Bureau of Statistics Aliziki Kaudah Lubega attributed the inflation rise to the increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages prices registered at 11.0%.
According to Kaudah, transport prices also increased to 4.4% due to ongoing fuel high prices.
She however, says there was some decreases in the prices of commodities under restaurant and accommodation services, education services and information and communication.
Mbale registered the highest inflation of 8.5%, followed by Gulu at 8.4%.1pm
